ONI Bureau: Manali girl Aanchal Thakur created history on Tuesday, becoming the first Indian to win an International medal in a skiing competition.
The 21-year-old Thakur won the Bronze medal in the slalom race category at Alpine Ejder 3200 Cup organised by Federation International de Ski (FIS) at the Palandoken Ski Centre, in Erzurum in Turkey.
Earlier, she has represented India at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics that took place in Innsbruck and also took part in the Alpine skiing – Girl’s Slalom and Girl’s Giant Slalom events.
Finally something unexpected happened. My first ever international medal.🙌 Federation International Ski Race (FIS). At the end turkey served me well 😇😇.
