Australia beat England by 3 Wickets in Tri-Series

Mitchell-StarcAustralia made a solid start in the tri-series by defeating England by three wickets at Sydney. Eon Morgan hit a hundred for England, while David Warner scored a matching hundred to take his team to victory.

England made a disastrous start by losing two wickets in the first over for no runs on board. They later slumped to 33/4 and 69/5 before posting 234 in 47.5 overs. Morgan scored 121, while Buttler (28) and Moeen Ali (22) were the other contributors. Mitchell Starc took four wickets. James Faulkner took three wickets.

Australia too lost wickets at regular intervals. But, Warner held the fort and scored 127. The Kangaroos reached 235/7 in 39.5 overs. Steven Smith scored 37. For England, Chris Woakes took four wickets. Mitchell Starc was declared ‘Man of the Match’.

Australia will take on India in the second match of the series in Melbourne on January 18, 2015 (Sunday).
