Australia-New Zealand CT tie abandoned due to rain

ONI Bureau: Rain washed out the second Group A match of the ICC Champions Trophy between New Zealand and Australia at Birmingham on Friday.

Australia were reeling at 53/3 in 9 overs while chasing a victory target of 292. The match abandoned due to heavy rains and wet outfield with both teams sharing one point each.

Earlier, New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first. Riding high on Kane Williamson’s 100, the Kiwis posted 291 in 45 overs. Luke Ronchi (65) and Ross Taylor (46) were the other top contributors. Josh Hazlewood took 6 wickets, while Hastings took two.

Australia were 53/3 when rain stopped play. Adam Milne took two wickets.
