Brisbane Test: Vijay hits Ton, India 311/4 on Day 1

Murali-VijayIndia started well in the second Test match against Australia in Brisbane, as they finished Day 1 on 311/4. Murali Vijay showed great character, as he scored his 5th hundred in Tests. He was out for 144. He narrowly missed out on a hundred at Adelaide, as he got out on 99. This time, he did not repeat the mistake.

India won the toss and elected to bat first. Indian openers added 56 runs before Dhawan was out for 24. Vijay and Pujara added 44 runs before he was wrongly adjudged caught behind at 18. Virat Kohli too did not last long. He made 19. Josh Hazlewood claimed the wickets of Pujara and Kohli.

Murali Vijay and Ajinkya Rahane batted sensibly and added 124 runs for the fourth wicket before Vijay threw his wicket when he looked solid and strong. At close, Rahane was batting on 75, while Rohit Sharma was unbeaten on 26.

India will look forward to build a total somewhere around 500-550 to pressure on Australians. Australia lead the four-match Test series 1-0 after the thrilling 48-run victory at Adelaide.
