CAS rules Narasingh Yadav intentionally took Banned Substance

Narsingh YadavThe Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) had reportedly ruled that Wrestler Narasingh Yadav took banned substance intentionally in tablet form on more than one occasion and there was no evidence to prove that he was a victim of any sabotage.

Contrary to Narsingh Yadav’s claims that somebody had mixed powder (with drugs) in his drink, the CAS found that the dope offence was not due to one-time ingestion. The experts found an oral ingestion of one or two tablets of methandienone in Narsingh’s samples.

The expert opinion was given by Professor Christiane Ayotte from Canada who was presented by the World Anti-Doping Agency. As the Wrestler failed to provide any strong and real evidence to back his sabotage theory, the CAS banned him four years and prevented him from taking part in Olympics.

However, if any criminal court in India will rule in favour of Narsingh Yadav on the basis of FIR filed against a fellow Wrestler Jithesh in Sonepat, the former would be able to file an appeal and the ban could be reviewed by the Supreme Court in Switzerland where the CAS is based.
