The 41st Death Anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand in Bhubaneswar in the presence of former hockey player Dilip Tirkey and internationally acclaimed Sand Artist Sudarsan Pattnaik.
The icons from Odisha remembered the legendary Hockey wizard on his death anniversary. The hockey legend has three Olympic gold medals to his credit. He had played 128 International Matches for India and scored 570 goals in total.
Sudarshan Pattnaik and Dilip Tirkey, who had taken up the campaign for the Bharat Ratna felicitation to the hockey wizard, reiterated their demand.
“The call for felicitation with Bharat Ratna is not a demand rather it is a hearty appeal of every Indian. We hope that Government accepts this appeal. So that, our next generation could remember him as Bharat Ratna Major Dhyan Chand,” Pattnaik said.
Eminent hockey player Dilip Tirkey said, “Dhyan Chand’s talent, achievements, commitment towards India played an instrumental role in promoting hockey. The appeal to felicitate with Bharat Ratna is not just from the field of sports but also from diverse fields.”
