ONI Bureau: England and Australia entered the semifinals of Hockey World Cup 2018 with wins over their rivals in the quarterfinals this evening at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.
In the first quarterfinal, England beat Argentina 3-2. Barry Middleton (27th), Willl Calnan (45th) and Harry Martin (49th) were the top scorers for England. Gonzalo Peillat (17th, 48th) scored both the goals for Argentina. Liam Ansell of England was declared ‘Player of the Match’.
In the second quarterfinal, Australia had it easy over France, as they thrashed the French team 3-0. Jeremy Hayward (4th), Blake Govers (19th) and Aran Zalewski (37th) scored the goals for Australia. Aran Zalewski was declared ‘Player of the Match’.
We will have two quarterfinal matches tomorrow – Germany vs Belgium and India vs Netherlands.
