Gayle Storm powers RCB beat KKR by 3 Wickets

Chris Gayle snatched victory from the jaws of defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) tonight at the Eden Gardens. The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) started their IPL 8 campaign with a three wicket victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders. RCB also broke KKR’s seven-match unbeaten steak at the home ground.

Earlier, KKR posted 177/6 in 20 overs. Uthappa (35), Gambhir (58), Manish Pandey (23) and Andre Russell (41*) were the top scorers. Gambhir scored his second consecutive fifty in this tournament.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were almost out of the game after losing Virat Kohli, Dinesh Karthik, Mandeep Singh and AB de Villiers for 93 runs on board. However, Chris Gayle had other plans in mind. He scored 96 off 56 balls with 7 boundaries and 7 sixes. He got support from AB de Villiers (28). Yusuf Pathan took two wickets for KKR.

RCB made 179/7 in 19 overs and won the match by three wickets. Chris Gayle was declared ‘Man of the Match’.
