Olympics gold medalist Germany prevailed over World Champions Australia to enter the final of Champions Trophy Hockey. In the first semifinal at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, the Aussies fought hard, but failed to outwit the Germans.
In the quarterfinals, Germany had beaten England, while Australia had overcome the challenge of Argentina. Germany will now take on the winner of the second semifinal between India and Pakistan, which will take place shortly.
At one stage, Germany were leading 3-0, but Australians fought back with two goals. That was not enough to win the game although they managed to reduce the victory margin. For Germany, Oriz, Mats Grambusch and Florian Fuchs scored the goals. For Australia, Chris Ciriello and Nick Budgeon scored the goals.
