Gone, Just Like Dhoni: Suresh Raina Also Announces Retirement

Minutes after Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his retirement, his Chennai Super Kings counterpart Suresh Raina too retired from international cricket. Just like Dhoni, he took instagram to announce his retirement.

“It was nothing but lovely playing with you MS Dhoni. With my heart full of pride, I choose to join you in this journey. Thank you India. Jai Hind!” – Suresh Raina wrote on Instagram.

Social media, which was already coming in terms with Dhoni’s retirement were perplexed by Raina’s announcement.

Suresh Raina made his debut in 2005 against Sri Lanka and played his final ODI against England in 2018.

Raina played his first Test against Sri Lanka in 2010 and last Test in 2015.

Earlier, Mahendra Singh Dhoni had announced retirement from international cricket.  

“Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout.from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired” – a one-line instagram post is all that Mahendra Singh Dhoni wrote to announce his retirement. The post was captioned on a photo slideshow of the batsman-keeper.

The announcement was enough to send the cricket fraternity, his fans in a tizzy, as it came at the most unexpected moment. People shared the memorable knock of his career and sent him best wishes.

MS Dhoni made him ODI debut in 2004 against Bangladesh and played his first Test against Sri Lanka in 2005. He is the only captain in the history of cricket to win all ICC trophies – 2007 ICC T20 World Cup, 2010 & 2016 Asia Cups, the 2011 ICC World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy. MS Dhoni played his last ODI on July 9, 2019 against New Zealand.
