HWC 2018: Australia qualify for Quarterfinals; England & China in Crossover

ONI Bureau: The Australian team registered their 3rd consecutive win in a row to finish at the top of the points table in Pool B and qualify for the quarterfinals. They thrashed an hapless China 11-0 in today’s game.

In the other match, England beat Ireland 4-2 to finish second in the group. Both England and China will play in the crossover, while Ireland is out of the HWC 2018.

In the first match, Blake Govers scored a hattrick with goals in 10th, 19th and 34th minutes. Other goal scorers for Australia were Aran Zalewski (15th), Tom Craig (16th), Jeremy Hayward (22nd), Jake Whetton (29th), Tim Brand (33th, 55th), Dylan Wotherspoon (38th) and Flynn Ogilvie (49th). China had no anwer to the Australian onslaught today. Blake Govers was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’.

In the second match, England beat Ireland 4-2. For England, David Condon (15th), Liam Ansell (37th), James Gall (38th) and Mark Gleghorn (60th) were the scorers. For Ireland, Chris Cargo (35th) and Shane O’Donoghue (37th) were the goal scorers. Liam Ansell of England was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’.
