HWC 2018: Belgium hold India to 2-2 Draw

ONI Bureau: Although Team India played aggressive Hockey throughout the game, they missed out on an outright win and ended up splitting the points with Belgium. A 2-2 draw did not do any justice to the Indian Team as they deserved to win tonight by a margin of 5-2 at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.

In the Pool C game of Hockey World Cup 2018 today, Belgium took the early lead as Alexander Hendrickx scored a goal in the 5th minute. India bounced back then after and kept attacking the Belgian goal post. Harmanpreet Singh scored the equalizer in the 39th minute while Simranjeet Singh made it 2-1 in the 47th minute.

Simon Gougnard managed to penetrate into the Indian defence in the 56th minute of the game to make it 2-2. India tried hard, but in vain and had to be content with a draw. Varun Kumar of India was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’.
