HWC 2018: New Zealand hold Spain to 2-2 Draw

ONI Bureau: New Zealand scored twice in the last 10 minutes to hold Spain to a 2-2 draw in the Pool A game of Hockey World Cup 2018 at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.

Spain took the lead in the 9th minute of the game when Albert Beltran scored the first goal of the match. Alvaro Iglesias gave Spain a 2-0 lead in the 27th minute. It looked like Spain would walk away with full points. But, Black Sticks stunned them.

Hayden Phillips (50th minute) and Kane Russell (56th minute) dashed the Spanish hopes for an outright win and held the game to a 2-2 draw. Josep Romeu of Spain was declared ‘Player of the Match’.
