ICC World Cup: Ireland bowled out for 259 vs India

India-IrelandDespite trying hard, Ireland could manage just 259 against India in a Pool B match of the World Cup at Hamilton. Ireland won the toss and elected to bat first. William Porterfield (67) and Paul Stirling (42) added 89 runs for the first wicket.

Niall O’ Brien made 75, while Andrew Balbirnie contributed 24. The Indian bowlers did an excellent job in the middle and towards the end to restrict Ireland at 259 in 49 overs. For India, Mohammed Shami took three wickets, while Ashwin took two wickets.

India have already beaten Pakistan, South Africa, UAE and West Indies and seeking their 5th consecutive win in the tournament. Only India and New Zealand have remained unbeaten in 2015 World Cup. India have already qualified for the quarterfinals and may top the Pool B. On the other hand, Ireland are fighting hard with Pakistan and West Indies to seek a quarterfinal berth.
