India beat Bangladesh, storm into World Cup Semifinals

Team-India-SemisDefending champions India continued with their unbeaten run in 2015 World Cup and entered into the semifinals with a comprehensive 109-run victory over Bangladesh in the second quarterfinal. It was India’s seventh straight win in this tournament.

Earlier, riding high on Rohit Sharma’s 137 and Suresh Raina’s 65, India posted 302/6 in 50 overs. Shikhar Dhawan (30) and Jadeja (23*) were the other contributors. For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed took three wickets.

The Indian bowlers, who have now set a record by dismissing the opposition in all seven matches they played so far in 2015 World Cup, never allowed Bangladesh to fight back and took wickets at regular intervals. Bangladesh finally bowled out for 193 runs in 45. overs and lost the match by 109 runs.

Tamim Iqbal (25), Soumya Sarkar (29), Mahmudullah (21), Mushfiqur (27), Nasir Hossain (35) and Sabbir Rahman (30) were the top scorers for Bangladesh. For India, Umesh Yadav took three wickets, while Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each. Rohit Sharma was declared ‘Man of the Match’.

India became the first team to bowl their opponents out in seven consecutive games in World Cups. This is the 100th ODI win as captain for MS Dhoni.
