India beat Germany; win Bronze Medal in HWL 2017

ONI Bureau: India produced brilliant display of Hockey to stun Germany and win a well-deserved Bronze medal in the Hockey World League 2017 at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar this evening.

India led 1-0 at half time, as SV Sunil scored in the 21st minute. The Germans equalised in the 36th minute, as Mark Appel scored the goal. India took 2-1 lead in the 54th minute when Harmanpreet Singh breached the German defence through a penalty corner.

The 2-1 lead turned decisive in the end, as Germans could not bounce back then after. India had won a Bronze in the last edition of the Hockey World League too. So, they have retained it.

Australia will take on Argentina in the final later tonight. Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore cheered the team at the stadium today.
