India beat South Africa by 108 runs in Mohali Test

Jadeja-IndiaThe five-day Test match was over in less than three days, as India thrashed South Africa by 108 runs in the first match of the series to take a 1-0 lead. The pitch turned too much, making things difficult for the Proteas, as they bowled out for 109 while chasing a victory target of 218.

Earlier, India resumed from the overnight score of 125/2 and looked strong at 161/2. But, the dramatic batting collapse, restricted them to 200. Pujara was the top scorer with 77, while Vijay (47), Kohli (29) and Saha (20) were the other contributors. For South Africa, Simon Harmer and Imran Tahir took four wickets each.

Chasing a victoy target of 218, South Africa kept losing wickets at regular intervals to Indian spin attack and bowled out for 109. Stiaan van Zyl scored 36. Jadeja took 5 wickets, while Ashwin took 3 wickets. Jadeja was declared ‘Man of the Match’ for his 38 in the first innings and 8-wicket haul in the match.
