India face Olympic Champion Argentina in HWL 2017 Semifinals

ONI Bureau: A confident and rejuvenated India, which stunned tournament favourite Belgium in sudden death to storm into the semifinals of the Hockey World League 2017, will be up against mighty Argentina in the semifinals today.

While India would be looking forward to their maiden appearance in the final of World Hockey League, Argentina would be looking for glory as the top team. In the last edition of HWL, India had to settle for Bronze after beating the Netherlands. But, this time the team wants to go further and change the colour of the medal.

Argentina, which qualified for the semifinals with a 3-2 win over England, has been holding the edge over India in the last few years. However, if we look at the recent performance, India did beat them 2-1 at the Rio Olympics. But, eventually, Argentina won the gold medal, which projects them a formidable team in the HWL too. They are currently the World No. 1 team.

It would be interesting to see whether India can maintain consistency and pull off another sensational win against the Olympics champion.
