India out of T20 World Cup, West Indies storm into Finals

Lendl SimmonsIt was a heartbroken story for Team India, as they faltered at the last hurdle. West Indies beat India by 7 wickets to advance to the finals at Eden Gardens. They will take on England in the title clash.

Lendl Simmons – the Mumbai Indians player snatched the game away from India at Wankhede. He got out twice, but off the no balls. He scored 82* off 51 balls to help West Indies beat India by 7 wickets tonight.

West Indies definitely batted better even though India got Gayle early. The dew factor played a key role. Indian bowlers had no chance on this wicket. Chasing at Wankhede in T20, has been easy always. And, West Indies had won a good toss.

India posted 192/2 in 20 overs, thanks to brilliant efforts from Virat Kohli, who scored 89* off 47 balls. Rohit Sharma (43) and Ajinkya Rahane (40) were the other top scorers.

West Indies took full advantage of the dew factor, as Indian bowlers did not get any turn and swing and failed to hold the grip over the ball. Despite losing Gayle early, the Caribbean players batted sensibly and reached 196/3 in 19.4 overs.

Apart from Simmons (82*), Charles (52) and Russell (43*) were the other top contributors. West Indies batsmen hit 20 boundaries and 11 sixes tonight. Simmons was declared ‘Man of the Match’.
