India win Junior Hockey World Cup after 15 years

India on Sunday created history by winning the FIH Hockey Junior World Cup after 15 years with 2-1 victory against Belgium in the final at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi.

India scored two field goals in the first half through Gurjant Singh (8th minute) and Simranjeet Singh (22nd) while controlling the proceedings for better part of the game to emerge as winners.

Notably, India become the first nation to win the hockey junior World Cup at home. India won their first title in 2001 in Hobart, Australia.
