Indian Women win Gold in 4x400m Relay; Men’s Team wins Silver

ONI Bureau:  India’s 4x400m women’s relay team today clinched its fifth consecutive gold medal at the Asian Games in Jakarta.

The Indian women’s Hima Das, Saritaben Laxmanbhai Gayakwad, Poovamma Raju Machettira and Vismaya Velluva Koroth won the 4x400m relay with a timing of 3 minute and 28.72 seconds.

Similarly, India clinched the silver medal in the men’s 4X400 metre event at the 18th Asian Games today.

The Indian quartet of Muhammed Kunhu, Dharun Ayyasamy, Muhammed Anas and Rajiv Arokia clocked a time of 3 minutes and 1.85 seconds.

Qatar created a new Asian record of 3:00.56 to win the gold while Japan finished the race in 3:01.94 to bag the bronze medal.
