IPL 8: Kolkata Knight Riders beat KXIP by 4 Wickets

KKRThe Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) scored a comprehensive four-wicket victory over the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) to march ahead in the IPL 8. Andre Russell played a memorable innings to see his team through when they were in trouble after losing five wickets for just 60 runs on board. It was KKR’s second win in third game of their IPL 8 campaign.

Earlier, KXIP posted 155/9 in 20 overs. George Bailey scored 60, while Glenn Maxwell made 33. For KKR, Umesh Yadav took three wickets, while Morne Morkel and Andre Russell took two wickets each.

In reply, KKR were in deep trouble after losing Uthappa, Manish Pandey, Suryakumar Yadav, Gautam Gambhir and Ryan ten Doeschate for just 60 runs on board. However, Andre Russell and Yusuf Pathan added 95 runs for the sixth wicket to take the game away from Punjab.

KKR reached 159/6 in 17.5 overs and won the match by five wickets. Andre Russell scored 66 off 36 balls. Yusuf Pathan remained not out on 28. Sandeep Sharma took four wickets for KXIP. Andre Russell was declared ‘Man of the Match’ for his all-round performance.
