Mayank Agarwal shines on Debut in Boxing Day Test

ONI Bureau:  Debutant Mayank Agarwal hit 76, as India posted a good total at the end of first day’s play in the 3rd Test match against Australia in Melbourne. They finished at 215/2 at Stumps.

Earlier, India won the toss in Boxing Day Test and opted to bat first. At close, Pujara was batting on 68 while Virat Kohli remains unbeaten on 47. For Australia, Pat Cummins took both wickets.

As the pitch will slow down as the game progresses, Indian spinners may have an upperhand in the last innings if their batsmen put enough runs on board. Ravindra Jadeja is playing this Test in place of Umesh Yadav.

With his solid 76, Mayank Agarwal broke a 71-year-old record of the highest score by an Indian on Test debut in Australia.
