Insight Bureau: At the end of Day 2 at KIIT Stadium, Mumbai have taken a lead of 202 runs over Odisha in Ranji Trophy 2017. Odisha suffered a batting disaster in the first innings and bowled out for a paltry 145 in reply to Mumbai’s first innings score of 289.
Biplab Samantray was the lone batsman to show some resistance, as he remained unbeaten on 72. Santanu Mishra 36 and Deepak Behera 28 were the other contributors. Dhawal Kulkarni 2/38, Shardul Thakur 2/25, Abhishek Mayar 3/27 and Vijay Gohil 3/26 were the pick of the bowlers. Odisha lost first three wickets without any runs on the board. At least 6 Odisha batsmen were out for a duck.
In the first innings, Prithvi Shaw scored 105 for Mumbai. Ajinkya Rahane made 49. Basant Mohanty took 4 wickets, while Suryakant Pradhan and Biplab Samantray took two wickets each. In the second innings, Mumbai were 58/3 at stumps on Day 2. Prithvi Shaw scored 46.
