Pakistan Lose, Australia set up Semifinal Date with India

Watson-AusPakistan crashed out of the 2015 World Cup, as Australia crushed them by six wickets with 16.1 overs to spare in the third quarterfinal to storm into the semifinals. Australia will now take on India at Sydney on March 26. The Kangaroos dominated the match and outwitted Pakistan in all departments of the game.

Earlier, Pakistan had scored 213 in 49.5 overs. Haris Sohail (41), Misbah (34), Umar Akmal (20), Sohaib Maqsood (29) and Afridi (23) were the top contributors. For Australia, Josh Hazlewood took four wickets, while Mitchell Starc and Glenn Maxwell took two wickets each.

The Pakistani pacers put up a spirited display by picking up Finch, Warner and Clarke for just 59 runs on board. However, the fielders disappointed a lot. Watson was dropped when he was struggling for runs early and he went up to score an unbeaten 64. Watson and Steven Smith (65) added 89 runs for the fourth wicket.

Glenn Maxwell was also dropped during the early phase and he hit the Pakistani bowlers for sixes and boundaries later. He remained unbeaten on 44 off 29 balls, as Australia reached 216/4 in 33.5 overs. For Pakistan, Wahab Riaz took two wickets. Josh Hazlewood was declared ‘Man of the Match’.
