PM Modi announces Task Force to prepare Action Plan for next 3 Olympics

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced his plan to set up a Task Force to prepare a comprehensive plan for the next three Olympic Games – Tokyo 2020, 2024 and 2028.

The Task Force will prepare overall strategy for sports facility, training, selection procedure and other related matters. It will comprise of experts from in house as well as outside. The Task Force will be set up over the next few days.

PM Modi’s decision came in the wake of disastrous performance of India at Rio 2016. India sent its biggest contingent of 118 athletes, but finished 67th with just 1 Silver and 1 Bronze medals – much lower than 6 medals won at 2012 London Olympics.
