Silver Girl PV Sindhu accorded Hero’s Welcome in Hyderabad

Sindhu-HydShuttler PV Sindhu, who had won a Silver Medal at Rio 2016 to save the country from big embarrassment, was accorded a Hero’s Welcome upon her arrival in Hyderabad along with her Coach P Gopichand and Quarter-finalist K Srikanth.

Hundreds of people had gathered at the Hyderabad Airport to welcome Pv Sindhu and Gopichand, who produced two Olympic Medalists, including Saina Nehwal in 2012. Politicians, Industrialists and Sportspersons made a beeline at the Airport to click selfies with Sindhu, the first Indian woman to win an Olympic Silver medal.

Later, Sindhu and Gopichand boarded a special open double-decker bus commissioned by the Telangana government. They will attend the Victory Rally at Gachibowli stadium, where Sindhu and Srikanth have been trained.

Thousands of people have lined up along the 30-km route from the Airport to the Stadium to cheer 21-year-old Sindhu, who also became the youngest Indian woman to win a medal at the Olympics.

Rewards have poured in for PV Sindhu after her feat at the Olympics. Here’s the list:

* Badminton Association of India (BAI) – Rs 50 lakh
* Madhya Pradesh Government – Rs 50 lakh
* Haryana Government – Rs 50 lakh
* Indian Olympic Association – Rs 30 lakh
* Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) – Rs 75 lakh and Promotion
* All India Football Federation – Rs 5 lakh
* Salman Khan – Rs 1.01 lakh
* Mahindra and Mahindra – Thar SUV
* V Chamundeshwarnath, President of Hyderabad District Badminton Association – BMW Car.
