South Africa win rain-curtailed 4th ODI vs India

ONI Bureau: South Africa won their first match of this series against India and prevented a series win for the visitors in the 4th ODI in Johannesburg. They won by 5 wickets (D/L method). India now lead the series 3-1 with 2 matches to go.

Earlier, India won the toss and elected to bat first. Despite a valiant hundred by Shikhar Dhawan (109) and Virat Kohl (75) who added 158 runs for the second wicket, India could manage just 289/7 in 50 overs. Dhoni remained unbeaten on 42. Kagiso Rabada and Lungisani Ngidi took two wickets each.

After rain stopped play for sometime, the target was revised to 202 from 28 overs. South Africa reached 207/5 in 25.3 overs. Amla (33), AB de Villiers (26), David Miller (39), Markram (22), Klassen (43*) and Phehlukwayo (23*) were the top scorers. For India, Kuldeep Yadav took 2 wickets. Heinrich Klaasen was declared ‘Man of the Match’.
