Srabani wins Double Gold, adjudged ‘Best Woman Athlete’

Odisha’s Srabani Nanda created history, as she won gold medals in both 100m and 200m events at the 19th Federation Cup Athletics Championship and was adjudged as the ‘Best Woman Athlete’. She also qualified for the Asian Athletic Meet to be held in China.

Srabani clocked 23.67 seconds to win the Gold, while Dutee Chand won the Silver medal with a timing of 24.52 seconds. Srabani and Dutee had won Gold and Silver in 100m race too. Odisha secured 7 medals at the 19th Federation Cup Athletic Championship, including 4 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze.

Srabani won two Gold medals, while Purnima Hembram won the Gold in Women’s Heptathlon. Amiya Mallick had won the Gold medal in Men’s 100m race. Purnima too qualified for the Asian Athletic Meet.
