Tendulkar appointed Brand Ambassador of 2015 World Cup

Tendulkar-World-CupThe International Cricket Council (ICC) has appointed master blaster Sachin Tendulkar as the Brand Ambassador of 2015 World Cup. It will be the second time in a row Tendulkar has received this honour. He was the Brand Ambassador of 2011 World Cup, co-hosted by India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Tendulkar had also helped India win the World Cup in 2011, which was achieved after a long gap of 28 years. He bid adieu to ODI cricket after that. As the 2015 World Cup Brand Ambassador, Tendulkar will promote and support a series of ICC initiatives to promote the event.

Tendulkar is the all-time leading run-scorer in World Cup history with 2,278 runs from 45 matches at an average of 56.95. He scored 673 runs in the 2003 World Cup and won the ‘Man of the Tournament’ award too. He played 200 Tests, 463 ODIs and one T20 during his illustrious career that spread over 24 years. He scored 34,357 international runs with 100 centuries.

The 2015 World Cup will be held in Australia and New Zealand from February 14 till March 29. It will be the biggest sports event in the world with the participation of 14 countries, including Australia, New Zealand, England, India, South Africa, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Afghanistan, Ireland, Scotland and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
