Vizag ODI between India and West Indies ends in a TIE

ONI Bureau: The high-scoring 2nd ODI between India and West Indies in Vizag ended in a TIE with both teams sharing the honours. India retains the 1-0 lead in the five-match ODI series.

Earlier, Virat Kohli hit his 37th ODI hundred and broke Sachin Tendulkar’s (259 innings) to score the fastest 10,000 ODI runs in 205 innings, as India posted 321/6 in 50 overs. Kohli remained unbeaten on 157 off 129 balls with 13 boundaries and 4 sixes, while Ambati Rayudu made 73. For West Indies, Ashley Nurse and Obed McCoy took two wickets each.

Chasing a victory target of 322, West Indies lost 3 wickets with just 78 runs on board. However, Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer batted with full aggression to take the West Indies very close to victory. Hetmyer scored 94 off 64 balls with 4 boundaries and 7 sixes.

Hope held his nerves till the end and hit a last ball boundary to clinch a TIE for his team. He remained unbeaten on 123 off 134 balls with 10 boundaries and 3 sixes. Kuldeep Yadav took 3 wickets, as West Indies finished at 321/7 in 50 overs.

Virat Kohli was declared ‘Man of the Match’.
