Odisha Tourism Sector needs Investment

odisha tourismFor the development of tourism sector in Odisha, there is need for huge investment for next five years. By developing tourism, the state could generate more employment and income.

The Chairman of Hotels and Restaurants Association of Odisha (HRAO), Jitendra K Mohanty said that the state tourism required around Rs.2500 crore of investment for a period of next five years for creating infrastructure and campaigning.

State also need a campaign for its tourism sector through a brand ambassador as the states Gujarat and West Bengal have been doing.

Mohanty said that around Rs.60 crore per year need to spend on promotion campaign to boost the eco and forest tourism in the Odisha.

He suggested that, in creating infrastructure for tourism, there was need to construct more hotel rooms of 3 star and five start category in Odisha. The additional hotels in the state not only generate employment but also generate income of around Rs.4000 crore.

The state government should also allot land to the hotels chairs in special tourism zones in each district for the promotion of tourism in the state.
