China to build 1st Underwater Platform in South China Sea

China t-South China SeaChina will build its first long-term national underwater observation platform in key waters in the South China Sea which aims to observe underwater conditions in real time.

The construction work of the underwater observation platform will be done with the help of Shanghai’s Tongji University and the Institute of Acoustics which will cover the key areas in the South China and East China Sea.

According to the sources, the Institute of Acoustics has refused to reveal the exact location and the details of the researches on the platform.

However, the scientists have already completed the first drilling task of the expedition to the South China Sea and the first hole has been identified as U1499A and has reached 3,770 meters below the sea level, for collection of sediment samples.
