China lifts ‘One-Child Policy’, Two Children to be Allowed

In a major development, the ruling Communist Party of China has lifted the one-child policy restriction and allowed the couples to have two children, ending decades of strict law. The move is aimed at alleviating demographic restraints on the economy. The one-child policy was implemented to check population growth of China.

However, as the working age population in China started falling, resulting in a huge impact on Chinese economy, the Communist Party had little option but to change its policy.
