Rabat supports Riyadh against interference in internal affairs

RabatRabat, Feb 11:Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Salaheddine Mezouar said on Wednesday that his country supports Saudi Arabia against any interference in its internal affairs.

“We reiterate our full support of Saudi Arabia against any interference in its internal affairs,” Xinhua quoted Mezouar as saying during a joint press conference with his Saudi counterpart Adel bin Ahmad Al-Jubeir.

Mezouar said Morocco also stands with Saudi Arabia against the growing threats that undermine peace and stability in the Gulf region, and “firmly rejects any use of sectarianism as a tactic to interfere in Gulf countries’ affairs”.

For his part, Al-Jubeir stressed that Saudi Arabia’s policy is “clear and constant,” adding that it is based on respect of the principles of good neighborliness and building bridges of cooperation with many countries of the world with non-interference in each other’s internal affairs.

Regarding the Syrian crisis, the Saudi minister said Geneva talks “have failed because of the Russian intransigence,” revealing that he discussed with his Moroccan counterpart the possibilities of participation of ground troops in Syria.
