We sent Jihadis to Kashmir; Osama and Hafeez our Heroes: Musharraf

Former Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf has dropped a bombshell, which would embarrass the Pak government as well as the country in a tight spot. Pakistan stands exposed in the world, as Musharraf, the perpetrator of Kargil War, confirmed that his country trained and harboured terrorist groups.

In an interview to Duniya News TV, Mushrraf revealed that Islamabad supported and trained Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in the 1990s to carry out militancy in Kashmir. It was a militant struggle on the basis of religion, but today, it has been converted into terrorism, he said.

Musharraf hailed Osama bin Laden, Haqqani, Hafiz Saeed and Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi as Pakistan’s Heroes. They have enjoyed the status of heroes at that time. Today, people are after them and Osama was killed by Americans, he lamented.

“When the freedom struggle began in Kashmir in the 1990s, we formed several groups – may be 11 or 12, including LeT. We supported them, trained them and provided all kind of support, as they were fighting in Kashmir at the cost of their lives,” he added. “We trained Taliban and sent them to fight against Russia,” he further said.

When asked whether there should be any action against Saeed and Lakhvi, Musharraf said: “No comments.”
