Apart from that, 50 companies of CRPF are being sent to Assam to assist the Army. The Army has so far identified 75 Bodo militants of NDFB (Songbijit) who were involved in December 23 massacre, which left over 70 tribals dead in Sonitpur and Kokrajhar districts of Assam.
The ‘Operation All Out’ will be launched in two phases. Areas bordering Bhutan and Myanmar have been sealed. At least 7 helicopters have been pressed into service, while the attack could be launched on 15 hideouts of the Bodo militants.
Meanwhile, the protests and demonstrations in Assam continue over the killing of tribals by militants. A total shutdown was witnessed in Assam. Several public vehicles were torched, while violent incidents have been reported in tribal-dominated areas. Situation remains tense, as the government and army try to bring things under control.
