Noted Writer Tarak Mehta passes away at 87

Noted Indian columnist and Journalist-playwright Taarak Mehta passed away on Wednesday morning due to prolonged illness. He was 87.

Tarak Mehta, best known for his Gujarati column, Duniya Ne Undha Chasma, which was adapted to the small screen as Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah on SAB TV.

Mehta had been published about 80 books based on his columns for Gujarati Daily, Divya Bhaskar. He had been awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in the year 2015.
