Representatives of 25 NGOs participated in the dialogue. With academicians and corporate representatives they discussed the current problems faced by the State in various sectors including Health, Child & Women Development, Education and Sustainable livelihood. While inadequate health and education infrastructure in the remote areas and poor access to health and education in many other parts of the State was considered as one of the key challenges for child and women development, community sensitization and end to end services for sustainable livelihood generation remained a key barrier for sustainable livelihood in Odisha.
Post deliberation participants highlighted on PPP model for strengthening of the number of Child Education Teachers (at Anganbadi, Pre-school etc.) and develop progressive and sustainable partnerships for forward and backward linkages for dealing with roadblocks in child and women empowerment and livelihood generation.
Prof. Supriti Mishra of IMI Bhubaneswar said, “CSR activities in the State are limited or insignificant. Corporates should look forward to more significant CSR initiatives.” She advised that collaboration with Government, NGOs and communities will improve the delivery.
Tejeswar Parida, Chairman, Odisha Khadi & Village Industries Board, who was a social invitee, praised the initiative and said, “There is a need for such forums and the dialogue between the stakeholders should be ongoing.” As per him the field experience of NGOs and good intentions of Corporate with able guidance from academicians can expedite the process of socio-economic development in the State.
