Such national recognition will further strengthen effort for enhancing quality lives in Angul,” said Executive Director & Location Head of JSPL’s Angul Unit Mr. DK Saraogi. He also thanked IndiaCSR team and esteemed jury for the award.
JSPL, in partnership with NABARD and local community, is implementing two micro watershed management projects in Banarpal Block of Angul District. These two projects cover five villages and will benefit about 2000 households for raising agricultural production and productivity on a sustainable basis. Farmers are preferring cash crops, like vegetable oilseeds and pulses to paddy. Under SRI practices the small farmers are harvesting three times of their normal yield of paddy.
More than 5000 horticulture and forest trees have ebeen planted and about 4000 soil conservation structures have been created in the watershed area. Total geographical areas of 3450 acres are being treated under the project from ridge to valley, based on net planning. JSPL had signed a MoU with NABARD for implementation of the watershed project in 2013.
