List of Chief Ministers in India @ 2015

The BJP, which is ruling at the centre, is in power in seven states – Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, while it is a partner in the government in four other states – Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir. In Maharashtra, it is the major partner and Shiv Sena remains a junior ally. BJP is the junior partner in Punjab (Akali Dal), Jammu & Kashmir (PDP) and Andhra Pradesh (TDP).

The Congress is in power in nine Indian states – Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Karnaaka, Uttarakhand. Five out of these states are in North East region. The party does not share power in any of the states.

Other notable regional parties that are in power, include Samajwadi Party (Uttar Pradesh), JD-U (Bihar), Trinamool Congress (West Bengal), AIADMK (Tamil Nadu), Biju Janata Dal (Odisha), TRS (Telangana) and Aam Aadmi Party (Delhi). The CPI(M) is in power in Tripura.
