Jual Oram launches National Portal on Empowering ST Teachers

The Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram on Thursday released the Road Map and launched the National Portal at the Conference organised to Empowering ST Teachers/Educators/Trainers/Counsellors/ Corporates to do handholding of ST Youth throughout India with Life Management Skills at Hotel Sandy’s Tower, Bhubaneswar.

The event was jointly organised by ICSI- Int. Chamber for Service Industry and Educator H2O with Forum of SC and ST Legislators and Parliamentarians (Regd.) with Hotel Sandy’s Tower Group.

The conference focused on empowering tribal educators / teachers/ counsellors so as to empower youth in a much better way. Also, Vocationalisation of Education with innovative means was another priority area, where the teachers and students are empowered with need based soft skills clubbed with the Life Management Skills. Shri Jual Oram, Hon’ble Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India launched the Web portal and Roadmap projecting the plan for Empowering ST Teachers /Educators /Trainers /Counsellors / Corporate to do hand holding of Tribal Youth of India was released.

Shri Jual Oram in his inaugural address said that he endorses the efforts of the ICSI and the Educators H2O , who have put in lots of efforts to develop modules/programmes for empowering Tribal Teachers throughout India. Dr. Gulshan Sharma, director general of ICSI while laying the ground for the discussion on the occasion said with the changing role of teachers as facilitator, counsellor, mentor and guide, ICSI in association with Dr. SC Khuntia, Secretary (SE&L), MHRD & Dr Hrushikesh Senapaty, Director, NCERT & Team has formulated a five days empowerment program for teachers, trainers, & counsellors of India focused on ICT Skills, psychological and Psychometric education, Pedagogical Learning & Life Management Skills.

With 8.61 Lakhs tribal teachers in India; Out of which 8.31 lakh are at school level and 30 thousand at higher education level, ICSI extended its services to Hon’ble Union Minister Tribal Welfare, to empower the tribal teachers across India over next 5 years, as they believe, empowering teacher is to empower youths. Nationwide campaign covering the North, South, East, West and Central zone with the Min. of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India will be next agenda of the chamber. Also, finishing schools for empowerment tribal teachers and youth at least one in each state of India was proposed by
the chamber.

Working President, ST – SC Parliamentarian and Legislators Forum, Sardar Inder Iqbal Singh Atwal, speaking on the occasion suggested that ICSI draws the plan for the next five years for Empowering Teachers /Trainers and Youth, setting up Tribal Teachers Training Institutes, Setting up Finishing schools and submit to Union Minister Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India for implementation as all the recommendations of the chamber will go a long way to help Tribal Teachers and Youth of India in the over all socio economic development of India.
