Former Coal Minister Dilip Ray has been pronounced guilty in the coal scam. This is the first conviction of a Minister in Coal scam.
Special CBI Judge convicted Dilip Ray in the case pertaining to allocation of 105.153 hectares of abandoned coal mining area in Jharkhand’s Giridih district in 1999.
The quantum of punishment will be announced on October 14.
The Court also convicted two senior officials of the Ministry of Coal – Pradip Kumar Banerjee and Nitya Nand Gautam.
