Former Union Minister Dilip Ray,who was convicted in the coal scam case was sentenced to three years imprisonment. The Special CBI Court pronounced the judgement for the hotelier and two other individuals in the alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand coal block in 1999.

The Court had convicted Ray earlier in the month, which is the first conviction in the coal scam case.
The CBI in its plea, had sought life imprisonment for the former Union Minister and hotelier citing that the white collar crimes are increasing by the day.
