The jawan did not have any weapon during the incident. He had gone to fetch milk, when he saw the eve-teasers harassing the daughter of the dairy owner. He confronted them and even beat up one hooligan. But, he immediately called up his friends, who assaulted Chaudhury with rods and sticks. He was later rushed to the hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.
Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav has expressed grief over the matter and asked the authorities to nab all accused and prosecute them. He has announced a financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the bereaved family.
