India stare at “shocking defeat” in Galle Test, 78/7 at Lunch

Chasing a meagre 176 to win the first Test match, India now stare at a “shocking” and “stunning” defeat in Galle Test, as the Sri Lankan spinners have taken control of the game on a slow, low and turning wicket. At Lunch, they were 78/7 and running out of all options to stage a fightback. Shikhar Dhawan was the top scorer with 28. Rahane is batting on 12, while Ashwin is batting on the other end. Rangana Herath has taken 5 wickets, while Kaushal has taken two.

It’s almost confirmed that Sri Lanka will win this match and take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. In the first innings, Sri Lankan team were bowled out for 183, while India scored 375, taking a lead of 192 runs. But, thanks to Dinesh Chandimal’s explosive innings of 162* yesterday, they bounced back strongly and made 367, setting a victory target of 176, which later proved too much for Team India to handle.
