Jhabua Blast: Shivraj announces Rs 5 lakh, Job to Bereaved Families

Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who visited the blast site at Petlawad near Jhabua this morning, faced protests from angry residents. The CM sat on the road with the locals and pacified them. He termed the incident as the ‘worst day of his life’ and promised strong action against the guilty.

The CM also increased the compensation to Rs 5 lakh for the families of those killed. In addition, he promised a job to one family member of each bereaved family. A judicial probe was already announced into the incident. At least 90 people were killed in the blasts.

The blast was caused by gelatine sticks stored in a shop. The owner of the shop had stored the gelatine sticks, used for mining. Due to a short circuit, a fire broke out, triggering massive explosion.
