NPF Chief Shurhozelie Liezietsu to become next CM of Nagaland

The Naga People’s Front (NPF) leader Shurhozelie Liezietsu has been unanimously chosen leader of the legislature party to become the next Chief Minister of Nagaland, following the resignation of Chief Minister TR Zeliang.

TR Zeliang resigned on Sunday afternoon to the Governor of Nagaland P.B. Acharya after bowing to the demands of protesting tribal groups opposed to his move to hold civic polls with 33% reservation for women.

81-year-old Shurhozelie has been elected to the Nagaland Assembly eight times from Northern Angami Assembly constituency.
