SC asks Centre to set up Special Courts for cases against MPs, MLAs

Insight Bureau:  The Apex Court on Wednesday asked the Government to constitute special courts  for speedy disposal of cases pending against Parliamentarians and MLAs.

The Supreme Court asked the Centre to place these details before it within six weeks and fixed the matter for hearing on December 13. It also sought status of the trial in 1,581 cases involving politicians since 2014.

The Top Court also asked the Government to apprise it as to how much amount would be spent on constituting special courts for cases against MPs & MLAs.
