UP CM increases Financial Assistance for Ikhlaq’s Family to Rs 20 Lakh

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has announced a compensation of Rs 20 lakh for the family of Mohammad Ikhlaq, who was lynched by a mob over the allegation of a stolen calf and slaughter. The incident had occurred in Bisada village of Dadri. Earlier, Rs 10 lakh compensation was announced by the UP Government. Later, it was increased to Rs 20 lakh.

Earlier, two other accused have been arrested in connection with the case, taking the number of arrest to 8. Two people are still at large. Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik has expressed deep anguish over the incident and appealed to the people of the state to maintain peace and cooperate with the state government.
